I have to go back...
...because of this: TANTANMEN
A friend of mine told me about Tantanmen and that I must try it. This is not on the menu that the waitress will present to you, instead this is scribbled on the wall by the bar. It looks very ordinary. The only visible ingredients are the noodles, ground pork, bits of onion leaves and the broth - which is, as you can see, is a bit oily.
The first time I've been to Ukokkei, at around 3PM, this was not available. Eventually I found out that this is served only after 6PM, and not a minute before that. The number of servings is limited only to 10 bowls a day. Not sure however if these are true, but I think the 6PM thing is...
Now the taste - a little spicy (this is offered in different levels of spiciness to suit your preference), the noodles are cooked to my liking, the oil on the broth is disgustingly satisfying that my blood pressure spiked a bit, and if I am to join the great majority, I'll definitely have this during my last meal!
The picture I took does not give the dish the justice it deserves.
Tempura - was OK. It was presented nicely topped with some sauce that goes nicely with the tempura. Personally, nothing to rave about.
The Grilled Squid - not the typical Filipino style of cooking. This one's cooked plainly, just grilled literally. And comes with a dip, I guess mayo sprinkled with spices. The squid was cooked nicely, tender and not rubbery.
It was a Fappy (full and happy) day!
