We've met a bit late
already for a weekend dinner. And without any reservations, that made it
more difficult for us to find a restaurant. Not to mention the pouring
rain that night. So we ended up at Sutra Restaurant and Bar in Bonifacio High Street. Besides none of us has tried the place before.
Leigh ordered Watermelon shake. I like the glass, but a bit small for the price.
Love the warm bread while waiting for our meal! The waiters keep on refilling the basket beside me.
Sutra Salad - grilled tiger prawns, pomelo, green mango, slices of apples, some greens and drizzled with cilantro plum sauce. The salad is fresh, tastes good but not the best, and pricey.
St. Louis BBQ Beef Back Ribs - to my delight, this came with a bowl of jasmine rice. The menu says tomato salsa, but instead they served this with some chips. Talk about carbo-loading. I like the BBQ flavor, the meat is tender but some portions are a bit overcooked.
Grilled Ostrich - served with sauteed mashed potatoes, carrots, brussels sprout and topped with ancho-jalapeno sauce. It was the first time I ate ostrich. The texture is nothing like poultry meat, in fact it feels more like beef for my taste. This is nice - juicy and tender.
Meat Lovers Platter - crispy pork belly, lamb spareribs, marinated boneless chicken. The serving is quite generous, and I love the chicken! This came with tomato salsa and liver sauce.
Pasta Platter - Penne with Tuna Putanesca Sauce, Fettuccine with Mushrooms and Bacon in Alfredo Sauce and Ravioli with Chicken in Spinach Sauce - this one is a bit of a disappointment.
The Penne and Fettuccine taste very ordinary to me. The Ravioli stick with each other and disintegrates when you try to eat them, and I cannot taste the chicken.
We aced everything, except the pasta platter. The place gives you that upscale dining atmosphere. Although a bit tricky to take pictures if you are not using a flash. The warm dim lights and the red motif of the place added to the challenge. The ambiance is modern, with intricate design along the walls and interiors.
The service is good as well. Overall, I'm glad we ended at Sutra that night.
The gang!

"a bit tricky to take pictures if you are not using a flash" -- it does not look like you used a flash, but the pix still turned out great! Looks like another must try place
