a little less guilt...or is it?

It's weekend once again!...and I'm saying that with a smile grin ;-D.

That means more time for food...and Korean food it is!

For those who have not tried, you take a little bit of everything, wrap it in a leafy veggie and eat the whole thing. It can be a bit tricky and challenging at first but you'll get the hang of it. Besides, this may be one of the few moments when you (parents) can tell your kids..."Anak, go ahead, play with your food!"

For most, the Kimchi is probably the star of the table. But for me, it's the seafood and vegetable soup with rice. I didn't really gave it justice in the below picture but I say it is something not to be missed.

There is something about Korean dishes that excites me. Maybe its festive colors, explosion of different flavors and the fun it brings into the table. It can be an acquired taste though.

Salty, sweet, sour, spicy and bitter, all in one table setting, are believed to be beneficial to different body parts. Many say these dishes are healthy and balanced. You have vegetables, meat, seafood, fruits, etc. It's like driving a super car running on sunshine - a little less guilt while indulging on something fun and delightful.

Or is it?

I have read or watched some documentary sometime ago that the ingredients are grown and harvested in the land during summer, with the intention of preserving them for consumption during the winter.

While I allowed myself to be engrossed by, a thought crossed my mind...Oooops!

I'm no expert in Korean dishes but there may be a lot of ingredients in there that might not be so good if not consumed in moderation - like salt and sugar - in which preserving food would usually require a substantial amount of.

This was one of the moments when I wish I was wrong...so I moved on to devour what's left on the table and ended the day with a smile grin ;-D

I'll be back for more...
