I love desserts and sweets - cakes, pastries, ice cream, chocolates, candies - you name it! (Well, I guess it's pretty obvious by now based on what I have been posting lately). But banoffee pie is not what I might call "my darling dear" when it comes to pastries. Please don't get me wrong, I like fruits, I like sweets but somehow banoffee pie doesn't work for me.
I spent one of this weekend's afternoons roaming Makati's CBD (by roaming I mean walking around). And I happen to pass by a happy familiar place - Mom & Tina's!
Ding ding ding! I have always liked this place so I walked in, and I'm tired anyway so...there goes my excuse ;p
I remember spending sometime here with my colleagues when we used to work nearby. It was where we ate lunch or dinner or just hang around over desserts. Usually we are presented with an array of choices of cakes and pastries by the counter. This time though (prrfft!), there isn't much left on the display. Maybe because it was a weekend.
For some reason - an act of God, or maybe because it looks nice - I opted for this pie. Of course I was expecting that I am headed for a misadventure - it's a banoffee pie!!!
I was quite certain, no - I am absolutely certain I chose form over substance...
Right until the moment I tasted it. There I was asking myself why I have never done this before...It was like Christmas in my mouth! (ok, maybe that was a bit of an overreaction, but you get the point). I like it!
Too bad there was only one left of this in the counter, otherwise I would have stayed longer ;-). This experience between me and a banoffee pie has so far been the best one.
